Before Enrichio, publishing a batch of updated product descriptions meant re-importing a spreadsheet into Shopify and hoping everything lined up. Sometimes it did not. Fields got overwritten that should not have been touched. Descriptions ended up attached to the wrong product. An import would partially fail, and I would not know until a customer or a coworker noticed something looked wrong. There was no clean way to undo it. That experience is exactly why review and publish is treated as a distinct, careful step in the Enrichio workflow rather than a single button at the end of generation.

## Review is quality control, not a formality

Generation produces a draft. A draft is a proposal, not a finished, approved piece of content. Review is where you decide whether that proposal is actually ready to represent your product to a customer. Treating this step seriously is what keeps a fast, template-driven workflow from turning into a fast way to publish mistakes.

A useful review pass checks a short, consistent list of things on every draft:

- **Product match.** Confirm the description is attached to the correct product, especially in a larger batch.
- **Factual accuracy.** Check specifications, materials, and any specific claims against the actual product, packaging, or manufacturer documentation.
- **Unsupported claims.** Look for any benefit statement that overstates what a feature actually does, or any performance claim that cannot be backed up.
- **Tone and formatting.** Confirm the draft matches your brand voice and that the HTML structure (headings, lists, paragraphs) renders the way your template intended.
- **Completeness.** Check that all five parts, opening, summary, feature and benefit list, detailed description, and specifications, are present and not thin or cut off.

This checklist takes a few minutes per product once you get used to it. It is a small cost compared to publishing something wrong to a live storefront and discovering it later from a customer complaint.

## Refining before you publish

Most drafts need at least a small edit, and that is normal, not a sign the generation step failed. Refining is where you fix the specific issues review turned up: correcting a specification, softening an overstated benefit, adjusting a sentence that reads slightly off-tone. Small, targeted edits at this stage are far cheaper than discovering the same issue after publishing to dozens of products.

If you notice the same kind of edit repeating across several drafts in a batch, that is a signal worth acting on. A recurring fix usually means a template instruction needs adjusting, not that every future draft needs the same manual correction forever.

## Publishing to Shopify

Once a draft passes review, publishing sends the approved content back to the corresponding product in your Shopify store. This is the step that actually changes what your customers see. Because of that, publishing should always follow a genuine review, even under time pressure to get a batch live quickly.

A sensible habit is to publish in smaller batches rather than one very large batch, especially early on. Publishing twenty reviewed, approved descriptions and confirming they look correct on your live storefront is a safer pattern than publishing several hundred at once and hoping nothing went wrong.

## What to know about rollback and recovery

One of the direct answers to my old spreadsheet-import problem is the idea of rollback or recovery: a way to undo a change if something was published incorrectly. This kind of safeguard matters because even a careful review process can occasionally miss something, and a merchant should not be left with no path back to the original content.

The specific mechanics of rollback and recovery, what exactly gets restored, how far back you can go, and whether it applies per product or per batch, can vary and can change between releases. Rather than assume a particular behavior, confirm the exact current rollback or recovery options in your live account before you rely on them for anything urgent. Treat rollback as an important safety net, and still verify its current scope directly in the app rather than from a general description.

## A safe publishing routine

Putting review, refinement, and publishing together, a dependable routine looks like this:

1. Read every draft in the batch before touching publish, not just a sample.
2. Fix any factual, tonal, or formatting issues you find, and note recurring problems for your template.
3. Publish in a batch size you can personally verify afterward on your live storefront.
4. Spot-check a handful of published listings on your actual Shopify store to confirm they published correctly and are attached to the right product.
5. Know where your current rollback or recovery option lives before you need it, not after.

This routine takes more time than blindly publishing everything generation produces. It takes far less time than repairing a batch of mismatched or incorrect listings after customers have already seen them.

## Why this step is the point of the whole workflow

Templates create structure. Loading and prioritizing focus your effort. Generation produces drafts quickly. None of that matters if the last step lets mistakes reach your customers unchecked. Review and publish is where human judgment stays firmly in the loop, which is a deliberate design choice, not a limitation of the technology. Enrichio is built around merchant control at exactly this point, because the founder's own experience with failed imports and overwritten fields showed what happens when that control is missing.

Enrichio supports research, generation, and a controlled path to publishing, but the merchant remains responsible for confirming accuracy and reviewing every draft before it goes live. That responsibility does not disappear as the workflow gets faster. It becomes more important, since a faster workflow can produce more content to review, not less.

## Building review into a team workflow

If more than one person touches your product content, review is also where you decide who has final approval before something publishes. A common, workable pattern is to let one person generate and lightly edit drafts, while a second person, often the one closest to the brand voice or the product line, does the final check before publishing. This does not need to be complicated. Even a simple habit, such as approving batches at the end of each day rather than the moment a draft is generated, gives you a natural pause before content goes live.

For a solo merchant, the discipline is the same, just compressed into one person. The key habit is separating the moment you generate from the moment you publish, even if only by a few minutes, so you are reviewing with fresh eyes rather than rubber-stamping a draft the instant it appears.

## What good review protects you from

It is worth naming the specific failure modes review is designed to catch, since they are the same ones that made the old spreadsheet workflow so risky: a description attached to the wrong product, a specification that does not match reality, a benefit claim that oversells what the product actually does, and formatting that breaks when it renders on the live page. None of these are hypothetical. Every one of them happened at some point during the manual process Enrichio replaced. Review exists specifically because a fast workflow without a checkpoint is just a fast way to publish the same mistakes at a larger scale.
